How to enroll

Four steps from interested to enrolled.

Step 1

Reach out

Send us a note through the contact page or call the school directly. We'll answer your questions and walk you through what the program looks like for your child's grade.

Step 2

Visit a Saturday

Come to the Mustafa Center one Saturday during the school year. Meet a few teachers, sit in on a class, and let your child see the room they'll be learning in.

Step 3

Complete registration

Fill out the enrollment paperwork, complete a placement conversation, and confirm your seat. We'll work with you on tuition — including support for families who need it.

Step 4

First Saturday

Doors open at 10 AM. New families are paired with a returning parent for the first month so you have a friendly face on day one.

Curriculum

Three pillars: religious, heritage, and academic.

The curriculum builds across grades — Quran and language in early years, longer surahs and academic reinforcement aligned with Virginia Standards by middle school. See the full breakdown on our curriculum page.

Religious

Quran

Recitation with proper tajwid, memorization of selected surahs, and an introduction to meaning and context.

Religious

Islamic Studies

The pillars, the prophets, daily practice, and ethics — taught with the dignity our tradition deserves.

Heritage

Dari

Reading, writing, and conversation. Students leave able to speak with their grandparents in their grandparents' language.

Heritage

Pashto

An introduction for younger grades, building toward fluency in conversation, poetry, and texts.

Heritage

Afghan Culture & History

Geography, holidays, music, foodways, and the long history of the country and its people.

Academic

English

Reading comprehension, writing, and grammar — designed to complement weekday public school and align with Virginia Standards of Learning.

Academic

Math

Number sense, operations, geometry, and problem-solving — paced to reinforce concepts students see at their weekday school.

Academic

Science

Inquiry, life and earth sciences, and basic physical-science foundations — aligned with Virginia's K–9 SOL framework.

English, Math, and Science are in active development and aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning.

Schedule & location

Saturdays, 10 AM – 1 PM

School year runs September through June, mirroring the public school calendar. Closed for federal holidays and Eid.

Tuition & support

Affordable, with help where it's needed.

Tuition is intentionally kept low — the school is funded primarily through community donations, not fees. Scholarships are available to any family who needs one, no documentation required beyond a quiet conversation with the principal.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, every dollar of tuition and donation goes back into teachers, materials, and the building.

The next step is the easiest one.

Submit an application — it only takes a few minutes, and an admissions coordinator will get back to you within 5 business days.
